On the 30th of April, it’s time for the Swedish holiday of Valborg. All the Karlstad student associations have been invited to a celebration at Gubbholmen (a small island right by the town centre). All students are welcome to attend, and enjoy the fire and the company of others. It starts at 3 pm. ISAK Board Election – 23rd May 2011

On the 23rd of May, it’s time to elect the new board for the autumn semester of 2011 and the spring semester of 2012. To have a successful association for the international students, we need a good board! If you think that you would be good for the board, you are welcome to apply for one of these posts:

1 President (being fluent in Swedish is strongly preferred)
1 Vice President
1 Secretary
1 Accountant
3 Activity (one of these should be fluent in Swedish)
2 Marketing
1 Education
2 Student representatives
If you’re interested, send and e-mail to president@isak-kau.se with a presentation, which post you’re interested in applying for, and why you would be an asset to the team on the 30th of April at the latest.

Also, make sure you ATTEND THE ANNUAL MEETING ON THE 23RD OF MAY! The meeting will take place in 3C512 at the university and there’s free, homemade, Swedish FIKA for all people who attend! It starts at 17.30 and won’t take long. If you want to make sure the international students’ interests are cared for, you have to vote!

International Night – 31st May 2011

On the 31st of May, we will have the much appreciated international night! This means that you will have a taste of the food and the culture of the represented countries here in Karlstad. Here’s how to do it: you find a few students from the same country as you, and then you cook food for twice as many as there are members of the team. So if there are four members of the team, you cook food for 8 people. All teams cook one main course and a dessert/pre-course. At the event, we will all taste each other’s food and the judges will give out prizes for best main course, best dessert/pre-course and best decorations. So make sure you try to give us a nice experience at your table, with for example traditional clothing, a flag and music! Also, it’s a major point in your advantage if your team sings your national anthem for the judges (who will be unbiased members of the ISAK board). At the event we will introduce the new board of ISAK!

To apply for the international night (trust me, you don’t want to miss it!), send an e-mail to activity@isak-kau.se with your name, the name of your country and the name of your team members on the 27th of May at the latest.
