The Association
ISAK stands for International Student Association of Karlstad and the association was established in May of 2009. We are a student association for all international students and all international host students. The main purpose of ISAK is to provide information, support and social activities for our members. We aim to be a link between Sweden, the University of Karlstad and the international students.
We believe that international students should be a part of Karlstad University in the same way the Swedish students are. And a big part of Swedish student life is being a part of a student association. ISAK is the association for the international students and works a lot like all the other associations on the University. But instead of focusing on solely education support and control, our purpose is to create a community for people from all over the world!
We arrange activities like International Nights, Movie Nights etcetera and inform our members about trips in Sweden and Scandinavia like the Tallinn trip, Scanbalt Experience and the Värmland trip. We also help with the boking of these trips. We also arrange educational workshops like the thesis-workshop. ISAK mainly collaborate with Karlstad University and the International Office in its operations. Of course only ISAK members get all of the benefits and can participate in our activities.

Membership in ISAK
You can sign-up for a membership in ISAK at any of our activities. Please visit our website each day to find out when and where the next activity is, or send an email to accountant@isak-kau.se. You can also download the membership-application form and hand it to us, it can be dowloaded from here.
The membership-fee is 40 SEK and it is a full 2-year membership.
What you get as a paying member:
Join our activities for free.
Opportunity to get free tickets to nightclubs.
Generally support for any type of questions/problems/issues.
Study, school and educational support.
Advertise on our webpage and Facebook group for free.
All paying members should have an ISAK membership card. When you sign-up for a membership your card will be made and will be handed out to you at either a specific time and place given by ISAK or at any of our activitis (The membership card can always be picked up at any of our activities).
All international hosts become automatically an ISAK member when they sign up to be hosts, who can join our activites but has to pay the self-cost. Hosts can also sign-up to be a member as international students, and then receive a membership card and get to join our activities for free.
